Burial Ground Manager

Purpose: The burial of the deceased and general maintenance of Sherfield on Loddon Parish Council Burial Ground

Aptitude: Good customer care skills and the ability to empathise in an appropriate and sympathetic manner. Together with a good standard of fitness and mobility to undertake manual handling duties in all weathers including the ability to use a range of hand tools.

Description and Duties

The role of Burial Ground Manager would be an employee of the Parish Council on a 2 hour a month contract, with additional hours if required.

The Burial Ground Manager is responsible for maintaining good public relationships and representing the Parish Council in an efficient and friendly manner.

The Burial Ground Manager will be responsible for liaising with the nominated Grave Digger to ensure that the grave is;

                          o   marked with spray paint,

o   dug to the correct specifications and

o   at the correct spacing, and

o   be present on commencement of digging.

The Burial Ground Manager will liaise with the Parish Clerk on required records of Burials and be present to witness the burial in accordance with the guidelines.

The Burial Ground Manager will be responsible for providing a report on the maintenance of the Burial Ground and if necessary undertaken remedial action for H&S reasons.

The Burial Ground Manager will undertake the necessary training with the ICCM at the Parish Council Expense and maintain the knowledge of any necessary legislation.
